Visit historic Kalbar for amazing gifts and take a little bit of country home!

Just a few minutes from the Cunningham Highway is the sleepy historic town of Kalbar. Overlooking the farms of the fertile Fassifern Valley in the Scenic Rim, this once quiet farming town is now home to an eclectic mix of boutique shops and cafes.


The jewel in the crown is the beautiful historic Wiss Bros house. Step inside the Emporium and step back in time to a treasure trove of delights! You will find a unique mix of antique, secondhand and new items. There is also a great little coffee bar if you need to rest from all the shopping excitement!



Just behind the Emporium - Empire Revival, you will find artist Terina Smith Recycling Artist who specialises in all sorts of wonders to decorate your home, beautiful lights, repurposed farm implements and gorgeous copper feathers.


BMK Collective source unique home decor items from suppliers around Australia and overseas, plenty of decorating inspo in this store.


Next door to BMK Collective is Nanny Lou's Lane stocking stunning ladies fashions, beautiful hand made crafts and gifts, accessories, and a unique range of baby and toddler fashions.


Across the road is the Kalbar Post Office which is home to Postmasters Sweets. This old building has been stunningly decorated and is choc full of sweets and fudges! If you have a sweet tooth, this is definitely the shop for you!


New in town is the Country Soul Collective, featuring homewares, bakeware, home decor items and a hidden gem of a cafe with tasty food.


Speaking of food... there are plenty of options in Kalbar! Lovett at Kalbar is a popular cafe with a fabulously atmospheric interior. They also stock a great range of local honeys and preserves for you to take home with you.


Other food options include the ever popular bakery, 2 M8's Smokehouse and the historic country pub, the Royal Hotel.


If you are looking to take some country produce home with you, check out The Butcher Co for fresh local meat and Scenic Rim Fruit & Veg for local farm fresh produce. You can also grab a coffee and great home baked sweet treats at Scenic Rim Fruit & Veg, plus honeys and gifts.



Best time to visit Kalbar is Wednesday to Sunday, any time of the year, but winter in the Scenic Rim is fabulous! There is plenty to see and do with bushwalks, lakes, mountain views, a flower farm, camel farm, and Boonah just 10 minutes away.
